Below is a list of Australian Players who finished the year ranked inside the world's top 100 over the past 36 years (1987 -2023).

March 2023 - FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1998 THERE ARE 8 MEN IN THE TOP 100 INCLUDING:

Sept 2023 - There are currently 9 male players ranked inside the top 100.

IN SUMMARY: 

--- From Jan 1987 to Dec 1996 we saw 13 Australian male players break into the top 100 (Cahill, Anderson, Morgan, Woodforde, Drewett, Fromberg, Kratzmann, Stolle, Rafter, Woodbridge, Tebbutt, Draper, Phillippoussis)

--- From Jan 1997 to December 2006 we saw just 3 Australian male players break into the top 100 (Hewitt, Ilie and Arthurs)

--- From Jan 2007 to Sept 23 we saw 17 Australian male players break into the top 100 (Luczak, Guccione, Edben, Matosevic, Kyrgios, Groth, Tomic, Duckworth, Thompson, Kubler, Millman, De Minaur, O'Connell, Purcell, Vukic, Hijikata and Popyrin)

--- “The exclusive club” – in total over the past 37 years, there have been just 35 Australian male players break into the top 100 (based on year end rankings).

IN SUMMARY:

  • 18 Australian developed female players (not counting those who developed their tennis from birth to age 18 in another country) have broken into the top 100 in the past 30 years

  • Rachel McQuillan finished year end top 100 in 9 out of 13 years. A very good player rarely mentioned by anyone.

  • The past 18.5 years have seen just 8 Australian developed players break into the top 100 including Molik, Pratt, Stosur, Dokic, Barty, Dellacqua, Sharma and Birrell (Both Tomljanovic and Gavrilova emigrated to Australia during late teens or early twenties ). And since 2004 just 4 Australian developed female players have cracked the top 100 (Stosur, Barty, Dellacqua and Sharma)

 

  • Sam Stosur has finished year end top 100 for 15 years in a row!

 

  • Nicole Pratt finished year end top 100 in 8 out of 9 years.

 

  • Nicole Bradtke (nee Provis) finished year end top 100 in 9 out of 10 years.
